Thomson & Metivier, P.C. is a full service public accounting firm serving the greater Marquette County area, since 2006. The partners and staff on our team, include two highly qualified CPAs that have over 50 years of combined experience in public accounting; each member specializing in an area of expertise. Together we offer a wide range of services to individuals and businesses representing a diverse group of industries including, but not limited to: medical, construction, law, engineering, logging, farming, food, small business and non-profit industries.

A lifelong U.P. resident, and current Marquette resident, Katheryn “Katy” joined our team in 2011. She received her B.S. in Accounting from Northern Michigan University (NMU) in 2012, graduating with honors, and obtained her Michigan CPA license in 2015. She became a partner of the firm in 2018.
Currently, Katy specializes in the preparation of income tax returns, financial statements, and payroll and payroll tax forms. She provides services for individuals, trusts/estates, and businesses. Katy has a passion for technology and strives to help businesses, small and large, develop accounting efficiencies through the use of technology.
Katy is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). Over the years Katy has served on several non-profit boards and is currently acting Treasurer for Willow Farm Therapeutic Riding.
An active hobbyist with varying interests, she enjoys learning new skills of all trades, spending time with her family, and especially enjoys spending time outdoors.

Patrick brings 30 years of experience, in both public and private accounting, to his role as Certified Public Accountant. Patrick was born and raised in Marquette, MI, and received his B.S. in Accounting from Northern Michigan University in 1994 and his Michigan CPA license in 2001. Patrick is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).
Patrick is dedicated to helping our clients achieve business success through sound financial practices. His main focal point is serving the non-profit community with auditing and attestation services, taking the lead on all our audit engagements. Patrick has experience in many facets of accounting and also provides business and individuals with consulting, statement preparation, and tax preparation services.
Patrick lives in Negaunee and his hobbies include deer hunting, music and exercising. Patrick also serves on the Negaunee School Board of Education.

Sarah started working for Thomson and Metivier in March of 2021. She graduated with a degree in accounting from Oakland University in 2007. Sarah has over 16 years combined experience in both private and public accounting and became a licensed CPA in November 2023. She was the treasurer of her college’s Students in Free Enterprise organization and then later treasurer of the MOMS Club of Marquette County. Sarah is here to help with all your payroll, bookkeeping and income tax needs. She has also become very knowledgeable in the heavy highway vehicle use taxes and is a Certified Notary Public. Having grown up downstate in the city, Sarah enjoys exploring the beautiful wilderness the UP provides with her children.

Born and raised in the UP, Thalicia currently resides in Negaunee with her husband and daughter. If you’ve stopped by the office, I’m sure you’ll recognize her smiling face. She has been working at Thomson & Metivier since 2017. Thalicia has 9 years of bookkeeping experience and 6 years of experience in payroll, making her your go to for bookkeeping, payroll and administrative tasks. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, playing softball, walking, exercising, and hanging out with her family.
